Privacy and your data
What we do with your email, and the position on directors' public register data.

Your email, for watch alerts
If you ask us to watch a company, we store your email address, the company number you chose, and the date you signed up. We use this for one purpose only: to email you when that company's register record changes. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form.
- We do not sell, rent or share your email with anyone.
- We do not use it for marketing or any other purpose.
- Every alert email has a one click link to stop the alerts, which removes you from the list.
- You can ask us to delete your details at any time by emailing privacy@insolvencytracker.co.uk.
Directors' information from the public register
Insolvency Tracker shows information from the Companies House public register. That register includes some personal data about company directors and other officers, such as their name, role, year of birth range and appointment dates. This information is already published by Companies House and is available to anyone.
We show this data to help people understand a company's public record. Our lawful basis for processing it is legitimate interest, namely giving the public a clearer view of information that is already open. We keep the processing proportionate:
- We show only what is already on the public register, and we link to the official record.
- We do not add opinions, ratings or predictions about any person.
- We present director track records as plain counts from the register and state clearly that a dissolved or wound up company in a person's history is not, by itself, evidence of any wrongdoing.
- We hold only a short lived copy of a record to keep the site fast; the live source is Companies House.
The register is the authoritative source. If a director believes their public register information is wrong, the correction is made at Companies House, and our copy updates from the register. If you have a concern about how we present public register information, contact us at privacy@insolvencytracker.co.uk and we will look into it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to our processing. Email privacy@insolvencytracker.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. We use privacy first analytics that count visits without storing personal data or building a profile of you. If that ever changes, we will update this page first.
